Me and a bud are planning to go to Cerro Gordo next spring and then from there up to the Summit to the old site of the salt tram summit station. Wanted to known if anyone has visited Cerro Gordo. I've read some things about how you're supposed to let the property owners know ahead of time that you're coming(?) That you can't just show up there(?) I've seen pictures on-line of their hotel. It looks great. Any info would be helpful. thanks.

Re: Cerro Gordo
Tue, December 2, 2008 - 6:09 PMDamon, you've heard correctly. The ghost town is private property, owned by Mike Patterson. He rents out rooms in two of the restored buildings to visitors, gives tours, and operates a little museum. Technically, there's nothing illegal about just driving through town, but it's courteous to let Mike know ahead of time (760-876-5030), especially since you might want to stop and look around. -
