I LOVE DEATH VALLEY....

Devil's golf course? Anyone been there? Un-freakin-believable. Mounds of salted, frozen-in-time mud for as far as the eye can see.

Sand dunes??? You'd think you were in the Sahara

Palm tree farms...

Anyone been to Mosaic Canyon? Haven't been yet....

Anyone seen the rolling rocks?

A photographer's paradise.....and one of the places you can feel and witness the aging of the Earth over time......

Beautiful....

  • Yea I agree!!

Did Bad water, Devil's, Zambriskie Point, Twenty Mules, Artist Palette, Natural Bridge, Golden Canyon, Ashford Mill (boring), and Hot Springs first trip.

Did Eureka Dunes, Ubehebe Crater, Grand Stand, Little Ubehebe Peek, Moving Rocks, Lippincott, Hot springs, Saline Falls and the Peace sign on second Trip.

Planning #3 for April 20th : Telescope Peak, Wildrose Peak, Darwin Falls, Big Ubehebe Peak, Hot springs, Steal Pass, Eureka Dunes

All this started in January 06.

Too bad I live on the East Coast, I can't get enough of this place, its a hikers paradise!!

    And then at night.

There is nothing like being in the middle of nowhere, with nobody around, looking up and the stars and hearing nothing.

    Talk about introspection....
  • Just came back from DV. Mosaic beautiful in the fall...Woman research person working on the sliding rocks on the Race Track has named them all - all female names. Some are famous people, some relatives...Her web site GPS-tracks the movement. I like to sleep at Emigrant and get down to the Dunes before dawn...wow. Another wonderful place is Hidden Dunes, out near Aurora Sand Dunes; lots of hard bouncing road and beautiful rocks...Not many people get out there. On a crisp winter morning, crackling sand and the feeling of being on the moon....I think I'll go back in a few weeks. And there's Dry Bone Canyon, and....well, I have some shots on my tribe page.....

Ah DV! I havent been there in about 5 years. There is so much mystical and mysterious places, I can not even tell you! So much area and you never cover the whole park! I used to go up w/ my ex and we would 4 wheel up many canyons that most people don't go to.They have closed so many roads to preserve and I can say I have been on a lot of those that you can no longer drive on. I really enjoy Death Vallley in the Spring- March- April when flowers are in bloom and days are longer. Butte Valley/Goler Wash is an awesome area- you need 4x4 and so much to see out there. Just find a spot to camp anywhere out there. There is also many cabins to see. I can go on on all the places DV has to offer, it would blow your mind. Race track is cool and all the hidden areas around there- like Dry Bone Canyon(b4 race track at teakettle junct turn there drive at least 10-20 miles or something like that) - hike one mile cross country to the petroglyphs. Make sure when you go to DV you have good topo maps!!
