man, i missed it so much......it was so good to be back.....

pics will be posted soon once i get them online..

we went for the weekend, rented a car, yada yada yada, stayed at stovepipe wells in the motel with the room facing the sand dunes. I guess because of the rain forcast nobody was there. It was perfect.

first day it was kinda cloudy, no threat of rain but cloudy and we went into mosaic canyon. The clouds were thick enough to keep the midday temp to like 85 or so. Perfect hiking weather. Mosaic was different as it always is and there were so many damn plants...and bees! We found one plant with like 200 bees just chilling in the shade of the leaves.
we went by keane wonder mill that afternoon, saw lightning in the distance by furnace creek on our way back...

that night it was the full moon and prenumbral eclipse and we went out to the sand dunes, it was kinda cloudy but the moon was still steadily lighting the dunes. it was very very dreamy...the whole trip was very powerful for the group in many ways.

the next day we were exhausted from staying up so late, made our way by the dunes, hit furnace creek and the visitor center, ate, hit devil's golf course, badwater....and saw the moon rising right over the road on our way home...

all in all an awesome trip with spirit by our side all the way. the amount of green on the creosole, the remnents of flowers and plants, the butterflies, spiders...we saw one coyote.........it was interesting. the landscape there and the peace is so humbling, so quieting. It's nourishment i tell ya.

I was reading at the visitor center that if the erosion from the mountains didn't fill the valley, that those mountains would be 9200 feet taller.

um...that's all i got,......it's crazy coming back to the city after the true silence out there, but i'm smiling right now just thinking about the whole thing.

take care, and hopefully i'll get some of those pics soon

peace
